"I often think that prayer - the unum necessarium - is the one aspect
of vocations work which we tend to forget or to undervalue!"
Pope Benedict XVI, Address to Bishops of the USA, April 16, 2008
"Considering that the Eucharist is the greatest gift our Lord gives to his Church,
we must ask for priests since the priesthood is a gift for the Church. We must pray
insistently for this gift. We must ask for it on our knees." - Pope Saint John Paul II
God often plants seeds at a very young age. Teach children to play and pray by having them offer
to God their playtime as prayers for vocations. Let God do the rest. - Sheila Axt, Wee Apostles
In the Catechism of the Catholic Church. #1656 says, “It is in the bosom of the family that parents are ‘by word and example . . . the first heralds of the faith with regard to their children. They should encourage them in the vocation which is proper to each child, fostering with special care any religious vocation'.” #2226 adds, “Parents have the mission of teaching their children to pray and to discover their vocation as children of God.”
Perpetual Prayer for Vocations:
A Child's Prayer for Vocations
Dear Jesus, please help me to be good today in all I do, play, pray, and say. I ask you to give your Church many good, holy priests who will shepherd us each and every day.
Thank you, Jesus.
I love you, my Lord and my God.
Jesus, I trust in You. Amen.
Say three Hail Mary’s for young men to answer God’s call to the priesthood. The Blessed Mother will help them hear her Son's voice, to be fishermen of men/mankind.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
